Is this district buying more tractors, trucks or machines than usual, and what will the season ahead bring?

ModelledThe StandardFigures on this page were counted on 28 Oct 2026.

How the index reads a district

Each kind of vehicle is counted every month in each district and set against that district's own usual month, the average of the twelve before it: 100 is usual, 120 is a fifth above it.

The season ahead is read from what leads each kind: the monsoon for tractors, the freight a state moves for goods vehicles, steel and cement for dumpers. Each reading comes with a band, never a single number.

Every forecast is sealed on the ledger below before its season starts and scored when the counts are published. A miss stays on the record.

District Demand Index

Each district's registrations of tractors, goods vehicles, dumpers and construction machines against the district's own usual month, 100 being usual, with the season ahead read from the rain, the freight and the steel and cement that lead each kind. Every forecast is sealed on the ledger before its season and scored in public when the counts are published, so the index carries its own record.
