edge.by truckaurbus.

Edge is the reference layer of India's commercial vehicle economy. Figures on this page were counted on Sunday, 13 September 2026.

The numbers India’s commercial vehicle market settles on.

Benchmarks, certificates and decisions for lenders, insurers and makers. Maintained by agents under evidence rules, published with a grade and a date, and scored in public when the outcome arrives.

6,340dealer doors measured on real enquiries
848bodies read on 480 chassis types in the Body Book
52maker sites read every night by the harvest agents
5forecasts sealed; first verdicts due 16 September 2026

Every product carries a grade. Live is read from production. Modelled is from a stated method on thin data. Pilot is running with consenting clients. Next is named and priced, not yet built.

Three questions the market asks, answered with our name on them.

Each buyer sees one slice of the same vehicles and cannot share it with a rival. Edge is the neutral party that holds the join and stands behind the number.

If you lend against commercial vehicles

What will this vehicle be worth in 36 months, and will you stand behind the number?

Residual Index: the monthly benchmark, with the electric curve

Underwriting desk: loan-to-value with its evidence, in minutes

CV Passport: the body and its approval, certified

See what lenders buy
If you insure them

Is the body on this chassis approved, and what is the vehicle worth today?

CV Passport: one record per vehicle, ratified by the builder

Claims desk: IDV, mis-declaration and total-loss value, source quoted

Clean Room: claim frequency by body type across the market

See what insurers buy
If you build them

Who considered our truck last month and bought the other one, and why?

Why we lost: verified operators, by district and variant

Launch reception: the first 72 hours in operators' own words

Dealer performance: how each door handled the enquiry

The Standard

Benchmarks and certificates the market references. Once a rating agency cites the index or an insurer settles a claim on the Passport, participation stops being optional.

The Standard in full

Residual IndexModelled

What a commercial vehicle is worth by variant, age, kilometres and state, published monthly with its grade. The electric curve comes first, because it is the number that stalls electric truck finance and nobody credible owns it. Modelled today from list prices and nine closes on a young yard; every figure says so.

single valuations from 49 rupees; the licence and the IDV and LTV tables are quoted by the deska licence a year

Body Book certificateNext

Which bodies are approved on which chassis type, as a certificate an insurer or lender accepts. It grows from the Body Book, which already reads 848 bodies on 480 chassis types and lets builders ratify them. The certificate is a PDF with a verification address.

499 rupees a certificate; insurer and lender licences a yearper certificate; a licence a year

CV PassportPilot

One record per vehicle: chassis number, body, approvals and specs, ratified by the builder and accepted by an insurer. Once it settles a claim, body builders and dealers must submit to it. It runs as a pilot with one insurer while the registry is built.

499 rupees a certificate; insurer and lender licences a yearper certificate; a licence a year

Clean RoomNext

A contractual, audited data trust. A maker, a lender and an insurer each contribute their slice and query only aggregates of the whole. Nobody sees a rival's rows, and a member can leave and take its rows out.

Priced by category and book size. The desk quotes.a membership a year

The Counter

What the register sees that a maker cannot: the operator who compared four vehicles on truckaurbus.com and bought somebody else's.

Launch reception and dealer performancePilot

How a launch landed in its first 72 hours in verified operators' own language, and how each of your dealers handled real enquiries: response time, callback rate, stock accuracy. It is the on-ramp to Why we lost at the same seat. Thin until enquiry volume grows.

Why we lostNext

Verified operators who considered your truck and bought another, by district and variant: the truck that won, the reason they give, and how your dealer handled the enquiry. For sale now to a design partner: your own enquiry funnel through the outcome loop from the day you sign, the operator panel, and the register's traffic. The grade moves as the outcomes arrive.

Demand by districtLive

Where a segment's demand is moving month by month: the register's intent now, from compares, finance asks and callbacks by PIN. VAHAN registrations and e-way bill volumes join when they are ingested, each with its own grade. Sold as part of Why we lost or on the API.

The Desk

Agents that run the decision inside your workflow, under the same evidence gates as our own register, and answer for it on the ledger.

Underwriting deskPilot

Send the loan file. Get back the loan-to-value with its evidence, the residual curve, the Passport check and the red flags, in minutes, with a grade and a hash. Every quarter we publish how far our numbers sat from the hammer price on recoveries.

200 to 500 rupees a decision; accuracy published quarterlyper decision, plus a retainer for volume

Claims deskNext

IDV at inception, body mis-declaration at claim, total-loss value at settlement, each with the source quoted and the grade shown. Embedded in the insurer's claims system by API. Accuracy published quarterly, like the underwriting desk.

200 to 500 rupees a decision; accuracy published quarterlyper decision, plus a retainer for volume

ProgramsLive

The instruments installed inside your firm: a three-week diagnostic on the register, a build, an operated fleet of agents, and a quarterly readout to your board. Client work runs through the same evidence gates as the register itself.

diagnostic in three weeks at a fixed fee; build at a fixed scope; operate on a retainera fixed fee

Recovery to the yardPilot

When a financed vehicle must be recovered, its value, its condition record and its sale on the yard come as one path. No borrower tracking is sold; the record is consent-first and device-free. The yard's fees apply on the sale.

no licence; the yard's fees on the recovered vehiclethe yard's fees on the sale

Forecasts wear commitments.

Every prediction Edge publishes is hashed at the moment of publication and scored against the outcome in public. A number that was wrong stays wrong on the record. Nobody else in this market will put their agents' accuracy where you can check it.

Pool what none of you can share.

A lender wants to know how vehicles like the ones on its book perform across the market. An insurer wants claim frequency by body type across the industry. A maker wants residuals across every lender. Each holds a piece. None can hand it to a rival. All can hand it to a neutral, audited utility.

  • Contributions are contracted, logged and revocable.
  • Queries return aggregates over a minimum cell size, never rows.
  • Every query is audited and visible to the member whose data it touched.
  • The clean room never feeds the public register.

The wall. Four things we will not do, written into every contract.

Neutrality is the whole business. These hold for truckaurbus.com's own lead business as much as for anyone else's, and they are audited.

Scores are never for sale.

No maker, dealer or product can buy a better number. The scoring formula is published and the inputs are logged.

Client data never enriches the public register without contract.

What you hand the desk stays with the desk. Nothing crosses the wall unless the contract says it may.

Register evidence never leaks a client.

The public register is built from public sources. It cannot be used to work out who asked us what.

Engagements never move a public number.

Paid work does not touch the index, the Passport or the ledger. The method decides those, and the method is open.

The wall in full, with how it is enforced

One seat per category. Five seats.

The firms that set the benchmark should pay to set it. A seat buys every instrument, the API and a vote in the method: what the index measures, what the Passport certifies, what the clean room may answer.

Priced by category and book size.

Seats close when they are taken.

A vote, not a discount.

Members sit in the quarterly method review and see every change before it ships.

The briefing stays free.

The monthly front page goes to every reader. The tables and the API do not.
